Sandra Mbuvi, popularly known as Thicky Sandra, daughter of former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, has announced her intention to vie for the Karura Ward MCA seat in 2027 General Election on the National Economic Development Party (NEDP) ticket.
She shared the announcement on her social media, a few days after her sister Saumu Mbuvi declared her interest in politics.
“I am officially announcing my intention to run for MCA Karura Ward, Westlands, in the 2027 General Election, under the National Economic Development Party (NEDP),” Sandra said in a statement.
A while back, she had announced her interest in contesting the Kitisuru Ward MCA seat, but she is now shifting to Karura Ward.
“Having previously considered Kitisuru Ward, I have now shifted my focus to Karura Ward, where I look forward to engaging with residents, listening to their priorities and understanding the issues affecting our communities,” she added.
She outlined her political plans with a focus on women empowerment, youth opportunities, education, healthcare, accountability and inclusive community development among other key areas.
“I believe leadership begins with listening, serving and being accountable to the people. This is the beginning of a new journey, and I look forward to connecting with the people of Karura Ward,” Sandra said.
The announcement sparked mixed reactions across social media from Kenyans.
