FKF President Hussein Mohammed

Tension is rising in the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) as Tusker FC Chairman Charles Gacheru openly criticized the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), calling their communication over the league’s kickoff date a “joke” and demanding the entire FKF National Executive Committee (NEC) step down.

In response, FKF President Hussein Mohammed condemned Gacheru’s remarks, stating that he wants to destroy the federation as like he has with other sports.

“Why would you want a normalization committee or FKF to be suspended? Some of them we know…you have destroyed other sports and now you have come to football,” Hussein said.

Hussein’s defense follows Gacheru’s call for discordant management of Kenyan football. He continued, saying Gacheru represents a big corporate institution and he won’t allow people to come and the destroy what is already done.

“It is not acceptable…you have gone and destroyed Safari Rally. First go and answer to those allegations before coming to bother us in football…and yet we know your history and what you have done elsewhere,” he added.

The issue follows a planned NEC meeting at Weston Hotel aborted; seven members, including MacDonald Mariga did not attend.
