Kenya Power Announces Three-Week Maintenance Exercise in Roysambu, Githurai

Residents and businesses in Roysambu, Githurai and neighbouring areas have been warned to expect power interruptions as Kenya Power carries out maintenance works on the electricity network.

The utility company said the exercise began this week and will run for about three weeks as part of efforts to improve the reliability of electricity supply in the two areas.

The works are being carried out between 7am and 5pm on weekdays and Saturdays and are expected to be completed in the first or second week of October.

Kenya Power said technicians have been assigned to work on various transformers serving Roysambu and Githurai under the Boresha Roysambu exercise.

“Our teams are carrying out planned maintenance works on various transformers in the Roysambu and Githurai areas this week, under the Boresha Roysambu exercise,” the company said.

The utility further stated that the exercise would be geared towards maintaining the network as well as handling problems which might affect power supply in the area.

Customers Urged to Be Proactive

Kenya Power noted that the maintenance was necessary to keep the network in good shape and minimize occurrences of faults leading to power outages in the network.

Transformers are responsible for the distribution of electricity to different facilities and homes and therefore, they form an integral part of any distribution network.

Customers in the affected areas have been urged to organize themselves in order to accommodate the exercise and to be patient during the process.

Kenya Power indicated that the exercise forms part of measures which the firm will take to enhance the performance of its distribution network in order to meet the power supply challenges in Roysambu Sub-County.

The firm apologized for the inconveniences which it would cause the affected customers through the planned power outage. The firm encouraged its customers to report power-related cases using the available channels.

“Customers can report power related incidences by dialling *977# or through Kenya Power App,” the firm stated.

The maintenance exercise comes as Kenya Power carries out similar network improvement works in different parts of the country, including areas in the Rift Valley, Kisumu, Kirinyaga, Nyeri and Tharaka Nithi counties.
