Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has drawn a red line over attempts to use the Linda Mwananchi movement to promote other leaders at the expense of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

Amisi said he was disappointed by what happened during the movement’s recent rally in Homa Bay, accusing some leaders of using Sifuna’s platform to endorse politicians who are not part of the movement.

“I am extremely perplexed by leaders using Sifuna rally in Homa Bay to endorse other leaders not part of the movement in front of Sifuna,” Amisi said in a statement shared on X.

He insisted that Linda Mwananchi was not formed to endorse Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka or any other politician.

“LM was not started to endorse Kalonzo. Kalonzo can however support Sifuna for presidency. This I will fight for it till the end,” he said.

Amisi said the movement was built around an idea of generational change, with Sifuna serving as the face of that idea.

“Sisi ni Sifuna was an idea not even about Sifuna as a person; and Edwin Watenya Sifuna is the flagbearer of the idea. Period!” he stated.

His remarks come amid growing debate within opposition circles over who should lead the push to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.

Kalonzo has remained one of the key figures in the opposition camp, while Sifuna has increasingly emerged as a vocal advocate for a new generation of political leaders.

Amisi, however, warned against using Linda Mwananchi as a platform to advance what he described as traditional political interests.

“Let’s stop the political conmanship around our generational fight for change,” he said.

The MP ended his statement with a blunt message to those he accused of taking the movement in a different direction.

“You did not understand the assignment. Bure kabisa!”
