Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has reaffirmed the National Police Service’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of its officers.
Kanja spoke on Wednesday, when 20 police officers were honoured for acts of bravery and exceptional service during a ceremony at the NPS headquarters.
The officers received the annualc from the Chandaria Foundation in recognition of their courage while carrying out their duties.
Kanja thanked the foundation for its continued support in recognising officers who go beyond the call of duty.
He said such recognition plays an important role in motivating officers and ensuring their welfare remains a priority within the Service.
“Recognising bravery is foundational to maintaining a motivated and well-supported police service,” Kanja said.
The Inspector General congratulated the awardees, praising them for demonstrating bravery, discipline and integrity in the line of duty.
He said their actions reflected the ideals of the National Police Service and demonstrated their willingness to go beyond what was expected of them.
Businessman and philanthropist Manu Chandaria also praised the officers for their courage and dedication to serving the country.
Chandaria urged them to continue serving Kenyans with commitment and assured the NPS of the foundation’s continued cooperation.
The partnership between the Chandaria Foundation and the National Police Service has lasted for more than 30 years.
The 20 officers were drawn from different units of the National Police Service and were recognised for their exceptional conduct and courage while serving the public.
