Oscar-winning actor and musician Jared Leto is facing criminal sexual conduct allegations, with four women accusing him of assault, grooming and statutory rape.
One of the women says she was sexually assaulted in a motel bathroom when she was 17. The second woman says she was threatened with her sexual assault when she was 19 and had been left alone with him in a hotel room. The third lady says she was assaulted at 17 in California, while the fourth woman accused Leto of making a repeated sexually explicit phone call to her when she was 16.
Testimonies from the women recalled “strange and sexual” phone calls from Leto when they were underage, with one alleging he made a lewd comment about her body when she was 14 during a festival autograph signing.
The women say they encountered Leto between 2002 and 2016, when he was in his 30s and 40s. He is now 54.
Leto’s workmate claimed to feel uncomfortable about the way Leto interacted with teenage girls, sometimes inviting them backstage to his dressing room or to the house where he was recording.
He has been a prominent actor since the 1990s and won the 2014 Academy Award for the Best Supporting Actor for Dallas Buyers Club. He is also an award-winning rock band, Thirty Seconds to Mars, formed in 1998 and is touring mainland Europe and the UK next spring.
