Former Citizen TV journalist and Kisumu senatorial hopeful Willis Raburu has broken his silence after he was knocked down by a car while campaigning with the Linda Mwananchi team in western Kenya.
Raburu said he escaped with minor injuries and quickly rejoined the campaign convoy, insisting that the incident would not stop the movement.
“Some random car hit me on the road. Campaign trails can be intense! I fell and got some bruises, but I’m okay. Nothing can stop a movement whose time has come. Caught up to the caravan and we kept it,” he wrote on social media.
The incident happened on Sunday as the convoy headed to Bungoma for political rallies led by Linda Mwananchi leaders, including Siaya Governor James Orengo and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna. Raburu had just joined the team when the accident occurred.
His update came hours after another accident involving the campaign convoy left several supporters injured after a vehicle reportedly rammed into people who had gathered along the roadside.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, while leaders from the movement have urged supporters to remain calm as those injured receive treatment.
Despite the scare, Raburu made it clear that he would remain on the campaign trail, saying the incident had only strengthened his resolve.
The latest incidents have once again raised concerns over safety during political campaigns as parties intensify grassroots tours ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In recent weeks, the Linda Mwananchi movement has also experienced violent disruptions at some of its rallies, including incidents involving alleged goons and attacks on supporters.
