Israel’s Ambassador to Kenya, Gideon Behar, has challenged athletics coaches to continue nurturing young talent to ensure Kenya maintains its position as one of the world’s leading athletics nations.
The ambassador spoke during the graduation and award ceremony of athletics coaches who successfully completed a training programme organized by Aberdare Sports Club. The initiative was designed to equip coaches with the knowledge and practical skills needed to mentor and develop the next generation of athletes.
Behar congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to build strong teams capable of producing world-class competitors.
He noted that investing in coaches is a crucial step towards strengthening Kenya’s athletics ecosystem and sustaining the country’s global success in track and field.
The ceremony also brought together Athletics Kenya President, retired General Jackson Tuwei, and Co-operative Bank of Kenya’s Director of Youth Banking, Joel Kaba, whose institution sponsored the programme.
The leaders emphasized the importance of partnerships between sports organizations, development partners and the private sector in supporting talent identification, athlete development and coaching excellence.
