Four suspects have been arrested in Nairobi over an alleged employment fraud scheme in which they falsely promised to secure jobs in the National Intelligence Service in exchange for money.
A Directorate of Criminal Investigation detective team led by the Central Nairobi Division took four persons to custody under investigation of the complainant who had been given money and then left with only a paper promise of government job at the service.
Investigators said the fraudsters supposedly got the complainant to believe that they were the recruitment decision makers and they told the woman that employment with National Intelligence Service could be made easy. As part of the swindle they allegedly handed over to her a fabricated NIS letter pretending she had been chosen for the job.
With investigation coupled with intelligence, detectives finally located and detained the four fraudsters whose names are Patrick Kibor, Moses Tarus Kibor, Humphrey Ngeiywo Kutuli, and Abraham Kimeli.
In a joint operation, the DCI officers confiscated a bunch of documents likely belonging to the illegal scheme and the said papers together with items like fake documents will undergo forensic testing to verify their legitimacy and to get a full view of the fraudulent network.
The four suspects remain in police custody and are being processed ahead of their arraignment in court.
The DCI has cautioned members of the public against paying money in exchange for government jobs, emphasizing that recruitment into government agencies follows established procedures and is conducted without charging applicants any fees.
