Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has congratulated 530 newly appointed Deputy County Commissioners (DCCs) and 483 Assistant County Commissioners (ACCs) following the successful completion of their training, describing the milestone as a key step in strengthening Kenya’s national administration.

Speaking after the officers completed an induction programme and graduated with a Diploma in Public Administration from the Kenya School of Government, Murkomen said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to implementing the Jukwaa la Usalama Report and modernising the country’s security and administrative systems.

The Interior CS said the reforms are aligned with President William Ruto’s agenda of creating a more responsive and efficient National Government Administration capable of addressing the evolving needs of citizens.

Murkomen highlighted several ongoing reforms within the ministry, including the training of 5,892 chiefs and assistant chiefs in paralegal services and security management to enhance service delivery and strengthen grassroots governance.

He added that the government has introduced a structured career progression framework for National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs) and rolled out stipends for village elders to support their role in community administration.

The CS also cited the establishment of the National Government Administration Police Unit (NGAPU) and the decentralisation of NGAO uniform distribution to county level as part of broader institutional reforms aimed at improving efficiency and accessibility.

Murkomen reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a professional, accountable and effective National Government Administration that serves all Kenyans with integrity and excellence.
