The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has secured key court orders paving the way for the extradition proceedings against Kenyan national Brian Kiprop Kiplagat, who is wanted by authorities in the United Kingdom over multiple criminal charges.
Appearing before the Milimani Law Courts, the DPP told the court that the UK had requested Kiplagat’s extradition to face charges of murder, manslaughter, perverting the course of justice, and fraud by false representation.
Hon. Bosibori Nyangema allowed the prosecution’s application to endorse two warrants of arrest issued by the Westminster Court, enabling the commencement of the extradition process in line with Kenyan law and international legal cooperation frameworks.
The prosecution successfully opposed an application for the suspect’s release on bail, leading to his continued detention pending further directions from the court.
The matter will be mentioned on Monday, June 29, 2026, when the court is expected to issue additional directions on the progress of the extradition proceedings.
The prosecution team comprised Senior Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Vincent Monda, assisted by Victor Owiti, Magdalyne Nduati, and Brenda Nandwa.
