President William Ruto has once again reiterated the pledge of the government to enhance the collaboration with the Kenyans living abroad, while highlighting ongoing efforts to expand overseas job opportunities for citizens.

Speaking during a gathering with the diaspora representatives from 40 countries, he praised them for being exemplary ambassadors of the country.


“We commended them for being excellent ambassadors of our country, pointing out that many organisations give sterling accounts of their hardwork, consistency, reliability and dependability.” said Ruto

The President said that it isn’t only a few but that there are various organizations around the world that continue to commend the Kenyan people for their hardworking nature consistency reliability, and dependability.

Further, the head of state said through the use of digital platforms and reforms geared at facilitating access to investment and social protection programmes, it has become easier for Kenyans living abroad to interact with services at home.

He explained that among other things, the diaspora can nowadays purchase houses under the Affordable Housing Programme via the Boma Yangu portal, besides them being able to cater for their families’ medical insurance payments via the Social Health Authority (SHA).

Besides that, the President shared that the government is much involved in encouraging the people to be employed in foreign countries so that the dual objectives of fighting unemployment and raising foreign remittances are achieved.

Furthermore, the president shared that nearly 540, 000 Kenyans have found jobs overseas in the last three years following labour migration sector reforms and the eradication of fraudulent recruitment agencies.

He further emphasized that the diaspora remains an essential pillar of Kenya’s economic growth and national development through investments, remittances, and global representation.
