Isaboke Backs Stronger Media Collaboration Ahead of Broadcasters’ Convention Focused on AI

Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications Stephen Isaboke has called for stronger collaboration among media stakeholders to promote professionalism and ethical standards in the broadcasting sector.

Isaboke made the remarks on Wednesday during a courtesy meeting with officials from the National Association of Professional Broadcasters (NAPB), where discussions centred on strengthening industry growth and improving standards in the rapidly changing media landscape.

The meeting brought together government officials and industry representatives who explored ways of supporting professional bodies in enhancing best practices, capacity building and overall media excellence.

As per the PS, the Ministry is fully behind the process to ensure that the sector continues developing with digital advancements and professionalism being upheld in the industry.

Innovation and professional journalism should go hand in hand as media firms continue adapting to changes through the adoption of various technological means.

Isaboke was also supportive of the efforts made by media houses to enhance capacity building for media practitioners, particularly the younger generation of journalists who were just joining the sector.

Other issues deliberated in the meeting involved the preparation for the upcoming convention to be hosted by NAPB.

The convention scheduled for the coming month will be themed “Reengineering AI to the Next Level,” with discussions on artificial intelligence playing an important role in the future of broadcasting.

According to the organisers of the event, participants will engage in discussions on how AI affects news production, audience engagement and content distribution.

The convention will also touch on issues surrounding the ethical application of technology in broadcasting.

Another matter to be deliberated during the NAPB Convention will involve mentorship for youths joining the media industry.

Isaboke hailed the move, adding that such forums are crucial for ensuring that the sector remain competitive and relevant as technology continues to reshape communication
