APS Bomet FC maintained their good recent form with a comprehensive 2-0 win over Mathare United in a match hosted at the Kasarani Annex Stadium. This marked their fifth win in a row as they continue their rise up the league table.

The Black Berets started confidently in the game and showed their intention right from the start with some all-out attack. Forward Nyakwaka was lucky not to put the visitors ahead in the 19th minute when he had a run at the home goal only to steer his shot marginally wide.

The deadlock was finally broken by APS Bomet in the 28 th minutes when Philip Wasai found time and space to take advantage of a defensive lapse by coolly placing the ball past the opponent’s custodian for the visitor’s well deserved 1-0 lead going in to the interval.

Following the break, Bomet remained on the attack. Nyakwaka continued with his marauding runs from the flanks to set up scoring opportunities requiring the Mathare keeper to make vital saves as Bomet looked for the second goal. The crucial time came in the 75th minute and that was when Festus Kipkemoi delivered a superb curling 21-yard finesse shot.

Junior midfielder Francis Omondi was the star performer at the heart of midfield and was deservedly voted Man of the Match following his commanding play in dictating the rhythm of the game from the outset.

The most recent win sees APS Bomet maintained the excellent reversal in form, and builds on the victory which saw them furtherest removed from the relegation scrap and nearer to the comfortability of the middle of the table as confidence surges within the team:
