IPOA vacancies how to apply

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has announced 33 job vacancies across multiple departments, including the position of chairperson.

In a notice issued on April 28, the authority said applicants for the top role must be Kenyan citizens with a university degree and qualifications equivalent to those required for appointment as a High Court judge, including at least 10 years’ experience in legal practice, academia, or the judiciary.

Candidates for the chairperson role must meet integrity standards outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution, including clearance from agencies such as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and Credit Reference Bureaus (CRB).

Those disqualified include current political office holders, recent police officers, former IPOA board members, and individuals convicted of dishonesty-related offences. The successful candidate will serve a single six-year term, with applications submitted physically to the Public Service Commission offices in Nairobi or by post by May 19.

IPOA job vacancies across departments

In addition to the chairperson role, IPOA listed 32 vacancies in areas such as investigations, legal services, finance, research, inspections, and administration.

Positions include Investigations Officer II, Legal Officer II, Monitoring Officer II, Complaints Management Officer II, and Clerical Officer II, among others. Applications for these roles must be submitted online through the IPOA careers portal by May 18, with no physical submissions accepted.

The authority said shortlisted candidates will undergo background checks, including verification of academic and professional documents, and must meet Chapter Six requirements. IPOA emphasised that the recruitment process is free of charge and only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
