The family of Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir is mourning the death of his father, Edwin Koech.
News of Koech’s passing was confirmed through a condolence message by Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, who paid tribute to the late patriarch’s life and legacy.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Davis Chirchir following the loss of his father, Edwin Koech,” Cheruiyot said.
He described Koech as a respected figure whose influence stretched far beyond his family, noting that he mentored and guided many in the community.
“Mzee Koech was a strong guiding pillar and a father figure to countless people, offering mentorship not just within his family but beyond,” he added.
Cheruiyot also praised the values and leadership qualities the late Koech embodied, saying they left a lasting mark on those who knew him.
“We celebrate the values he lived by, the lessons he shared, and his rare ability to inspire those around him to aim higher,” he said.
The family is yet to announce the cause of death or details of the funeral arrangements.
