Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Ali Joho has held discussions with H.E. Hatem Yousri Hosni, Ambassador of Egypt to Kenya, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the mining and maritime sectors.
The Ambassador paid a courtesy call to Joho’s office, where the two leaders explored opportunities for collaboration in mineral value addition aimed at driving industrial growth and creating sustainable economic opportunities.
The discussions also covered enhancing maritime transport and logistics, with both sides acknowledging their importance in boosting trade and improving regional connectivity.
“We also explored avenues for enhancing maritime transport and logistics, recognizing their critical role in facilitating trade and regional connectivity,” Joho said.
The two officials further discussed the proposed Memorandum of Understanding on maritime and logistics cooperation, agreeing on the need to fast-track its finalization to unlock deeper bilateral engagement and tangible outcomes.
Joho also extended an invitation to the Ambassador and Egyptian investors to attend the upcoming Kenya Mining Investment Conference and Expo (MICE) 2026, scheduled for later this month, which will showcase investment opportunities in Kenya’s mining sector.
The meeting was also attended by Mining Principal Secretary Harry Kimtai and Ms. Sara Elkhouly, Political Affairs Officer at the Egyptian Embassy in Nairobi.
