President Ruto in Nyamira County

President William Ruto, has announced plans to upgrade the Nyamira County Referral Hospital, citing the need to improve healthcare services in the region.

Speaking to the residents of Nyamira County during his development projects tour, Ruto noted concerns raised by residents and local leaders led by governor Amos Nyabiro, about the hospital’s condition, describing it as overloaded and in need of urgent improvement.

Ruto said he has sent his administration to initiate assessments of the facility and confirmed plans are underway to elevate it to a higher level of service including: expansion and modernization of key departments.

He added that the national government will seek about Ksh 1billion from external funding to support the upgrade of the hospital, adding that he intends to lobby for the funds during his upcoming trip to Italy.

“I will be going to Italy next week. Among the things I will be seeking is Ksh 1 billion for the Nyamira hospital,” he said.

He emphasised to strengthen the hospital, ensuring residents to receive quality treatment and timely medical care. This comes after the government aims development commitments in Nyamira County, including: investments in infrastructure, education and transport projects.
