The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), has released an update of the ongoing Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR), exercise which began on 30th March and will run until 28th April, 2026.
According to IEBC, a total 875,501 voters were registered between 30th March to 9th April, 2026. In the last six days, there is an additional of 531,185 new voters showing an increase turn out . 49,502 voters transfers were processed and individuals of 1,066 updated their registration details
IEBC Chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon, condemned reported incidents of attacks on staffs and called on security agencies and the public to ensure safety for all electoral officers and facilities during the exercise.
Ethekon urged eligible citizens to register as voters and encouraged those already registered to verify their details through the Commission’s online portals.
“We wish to extend our sincere appreciation and congratulations to the hundreds of thousands of citizens who have stepped forward to claim their right to vote, this displays a patriotic spirit by Kenyans,” he said in a statement.
The registration exercise is currently being conducted across all the 1450 County Assembly Wards (CAWs), as well as institutions of higher learning, Huduma Centers, Customer Experience at Anniversary Towers and constituency offices.
