Ruto Nairobi Hospital

President William Ruto has pledged to safeguard Nairobi Hospital from what he described as fraudsters and individuals attempting to take control of the facility.

Speaking in Mt. Elgon during his tour of Western Kenya, Ruto said that as both the hospital’s patron and the head of state, he would not allow the leading medical institution to collapse under his leadership. He explained that senior doctors and professionals had reached out to him, raising concerns about alleged mismanagement at the hospital.

“Senior doctors and professionals from Nairobi Hospital approached me to save the hospital from conmen, from fraudsters and from charlatans who wanted to expropriate it. And I want to say, without any doubt, that Nairobi Hospital is a premier medical institution in Kenya. In fact, it serves the region. There is no way I am going to allow Nairobi Hospital to be taken over or held hostage,” Ruto said.

The president added that he has issued clear instructions for action to be taken against those linked to fraudulent dealings at the hospital, stating that they will be removed from their positions and prosecuted in court.

At the same time, Ruto criticised opposition leaders, accusing them of interfering in the matter for political gain. He described them as opportunistic, claiming they were eager to exploit the situation for headlines.

His remarks come after former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua alleged that senior government officials were attempting to influence changes in the hospital’s ownership structure, claims that Ruto dismissed.

Ruto maintained that Nairobi Hospital serves all Kenyans and reiterated that the government is ready to support and protect it from individuals with questionable intentions.

“We are going to stop at nothing until we restore Nairobi Hospital to what it has always been, a premier hospital in the Republic of Kenya,” Ruto added.
