Kenya Junior Starlets arrived in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic yesterday for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup set to be held there.
The team had pitched camp in Spain for two weeks where they played three friendly matches, recording resounding wins.
The early arrival in the Dominican Republic will help the team acclimatise before the tournament kicks off on October 16.
Starlets will face-off with England on October 18, Korea DPR on October 20, and Mexico on October 24.
The team prepared well in Spain and we want to use the remaining few days to continue preparing ahead of our opening match,” head coach Mildred Cheche said.
In Spain, they defeated Ciudad Deportiva 4-1, settled for a 1-1 draw against Portugal and humbled Intercity Fememino 4-1 in friendly matches.
The Starlets will make history by becoming the first Kenyan team to participate in a football World Cup at any level.

Defenders: Elizabeth Ochaka, Lorine Ilavonga, Jenevieve Mithel, Christine Adhiambo, Kimberly Akinyi and Diana Anyango.
Midfielders: Velma Awuor, Brenda Awuor, Halima Imbachi, Rebecca Odato, Susan Akoth, Lindi Weey Atieno, Pearl Olesi and Lorna Faith.
Forwards: Valerie Nekesa, Joan Ogola, Marion Serenge, Quinter Adhiambo, Jane Kweyu and Joy Angela Valencia.
