Johanna Ng'eno

President William Ruto has directed the government to allocate KSh 20 million every year to support local artistes in honour of the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ng’eno.

The announcement was made during Ng’eno’s burial ceremony at Emurua Dikirr Primary School in Narok County. The MP died alongside five others in a helicopter crash on Saturday, February 28, in the Chepkiep area of Mosop, Nandi County.

The five were Amos Kipngetich Rotich, Nick Kosgey, Wycliffe Kiprotich Rono, Robert Kipkoech Keter and their pilot, Captain George Were.

While addressing mourners, Ruto said Ng’eno had always championed the welfare of artistes and often pushed for government support for them.

“You all know, apart from being a leader here in Emurua Dikirr, Ng’eno was also a leader in our community. He walked several places, especially in matters of artistes’ welfare. He talked to me a lot about it,” Ruto said.

The president recalled that the late lawmaker once approached him in December 2025 seeking KSh 30 million to support an artistes’ event in Eldoret.

“He approached me in December 2025 and requested KSh 30 million to support an artistes’ event in Eldoret. The function was scheduled for Saturday, and he briefed me on Thursday. I mobilised the funds and the event went on to attract more than 15,000 people,” Ruto said.
