The Director of Public prosecution has okayed the bribery charges against prosecutor Samuel Mugo Kiarie.
In a statement shared on their social media platforms , DPP said that the direction for charges followed a review of inquiry file forwarded by the ethic and anti-corruption commission.
Kiarie stationed at the Makadara law courts in Nairobi was accused of receiving a bribe .
“Upon an independent evaluation of the evidence presented, the DPP has established that there is sufficient and credible evidence to sustain criminal charges against Mr. Kiarie, “statement read.
The DPP has approved three counts of receiving a bribe contrary to Section 6(1) read with Section 18 of the Bribery Act and directed that the accused be arraigned before a court with competent jurisdiction.
The ODPP reaffirmed its commitment to uphold the integrity of the criminal justice system and ensure that public officers are held accountable.
