The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has warned the public about a new wave of recruitment scams after fake job offer letters bearing the Authority’s name began circulating online.
In a statement issued on Thursday, KPA said the fraudulent letters are being used by scammers to demand money from unsuspecting job seekers, falsely claiming to secure them employment.
The Authority clarified that its ongoing recruitment process is not yet complete, and that no official job offers have been issued so far.
“All successful candidates will be contacted only through our official communication channels once the process is finalized,” KPA said.
KPA also stressed that it does not charge any fees at any stage of recruitment — whether for application, interviews, processing, or facilitation.
“Any request for payment is a clear attempt to defraud and should be ignored,” the statement said.
One of the fake letters seen online claims to offer a six-year contract for the position of Administrative Assistant and even includes a monthly salary figure. KPA has confirmed that the document did not come from the Authority.
The agency urged job seekers to remain cautious and to verify any recruitment information through its official website and verified social media pages.
KPA added that it will not be responsible for any losses suffered by individuals who fall victim to the scam.
