Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has denied allegations that his administration has transferred some of the County government functions including garbage collection and roads construction to the national government.
During his State of the County Address at the Nairobi County Assembly on Wednesday,
Sakaja says the County Government has instead collaborated with the national government on various areas for better service delivery.
Sakaja dismissed the speculations, saying such a move would be betrayal to the city resident.
The functions alleged to have been transferred to the national government include garbage collection, roads construction, public works and water supply
However, Sakaja confirmed that an existing cooperation with the National Government functions would remain firmly under county control Vowing to stay put
He blamed the defunct Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) for the countys KSh 16 billion pending bills, pointing out that his administration was only the one to inherit the liabilities.
