Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Salim Mvurya, has urged young people to remain focused and ignore naysayers who dismiss the value of humble beginnings.

Mvurya accompanied President William Ruto on a tour of Meru, Embu and Tharaka Nithi counties, where they disbursed capital to young entrepreneurs under the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme.

He said the NYOTA seed capital is intended to catalyse the start-up, growth and expansion of youth-led micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), enabling them to become sustainable businesses that create jobs, empower communities and transform livelihoods.

“As envisioned by President Ruto, this deliberate intervention places young people at the centre of Kenya’s economic prosperity agenda, ensuring they are not left behind but are fully included as key drivers of growth, innovation and national transformation,” Mvurya said.

A total of KSh168 million was disbursed to 6,720 beneficiaries across the three counties.
