The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced plans to conduct repeat grassroots elections in selected polling centres across 42 counties as the ruling party intensifies preparations for the 2027 General Elections.

According to UDA Chairperson Cecilia Mbarire, Phase III of the repeat polls will be held on March 7, 2026, while Phase II is scheduled for March 28, 2026. She said the exercise is aimed at strengthening internal democracy and ensuring credible leadership structures at the grassroots.

Mbarire also announced that registration for aspirants seeking various Polling Centre Congress positions has opened and will be conducted online through the party’s official website.

“The United Democratic Alliance, will conduct repeat grassroots elections in selected polling centres across 42 counties, with Phase III scheduled for March 7, 2026, and Phase II for March 28, 2026, while registration for aspirants to various Polling Centre Congress positions opens today via the party’s official website,”she said.

In a further show of early election preparedness, the party will convene a Special National Governing Council (NGC) meeting on Monday, January 26, 2026, at State House, Nairobi.

The meeting will bring together all elected and nominated UDA leaders and will be chaired by the party leader and President William Ruto.

Additionally, the UDA National Steering Committee has approved the establishment of a UDA Aspirants Forum, a platform intended to organise and engage party hopefuls ahead of the 2027 polls.

The developments signal an early push by the ruling party to consolidate its structures, manage internal competition, and avoid the divisions that have previously plagued political outfits heading into general elections.
