Kimilli MP Didmus Barasa has announced that he will sponsor the impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in the National Assembly.
Barasa said he has already collected and surpassed the 117 MPs’ signature threshold required for the motion to be approved, adding he will table it any day from today, Thursday, September 26.
In his recent post on social media, Barasa said 280 MPs had appended their signatures, endorsing the motion to oust Gachagua.
He exuded confidence that National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula will approve the motion as they have a watertight case against Gachagua that renders him unsuitable to occupy the Office of the Deputy President.
According to Barasa, the charges against Gachagua include participating in an attempted coup against President William Ruto and promoting tribal politics.
