The Isiolo Law Courts have sentenced Ibrahim Ali Kalla to two years in prison after convicting him of illegally possessing commercial electric detonators concealed among personal effects at the Archer’s Post multi-agency roadblock on January 26, 2023.
Following his arrest, Kalla was taken to Isiolo Police Station, where the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) assumed conduct of the investigations.
He was arraigned on February 6, 2023, pleaded not guilty, and was released on a bond of Sh200,000 or a cash bail of Sh100,000.
During the trial, the prosecution called eight witnesses whose testimonies were central to the case.
On December 19, 2025, the court delivered its judgment, found the accused guilty, cancelled his bond, and remanded him in custody pending sentencing.
On January 7, 2026, trial Magistrate Maureen Odhiambo handed down the sentence, imposing a fine of Sh200,000, in default of which the accused will serve two years’ imprisonment.
