President William Ruto declared a seven-day period of national mourning following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, one of Kenya’s most influential political figures.
Speaking to the nation on Wednesday, October 15, President Ruto described Raila’s death as a moment of deep national loss, stating that the country will take time to honor his life and legacy.
Following these happenings, I have declared a week of national mourning,” declared the President.
During the mourning period, all national flags will be flown at half-mast within the nation, in the State House, and in all Kenyan missions abroad.
President Ruto went on to declare that the late Raila Odinga would be accorded a State Funeral a prestigious honor bestowed on leaders who have made major contributions towards Kenya’s history and democracy.
