Former Deputy President and Democratic Congress Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has pledged to pay for a three-year Social Health Authority (SHA) subscription for one of his supporters, despite having publicly opposed the state-backed health insurance scheme.
His pledge came after meeting Emmanuel Ouma, popularly known as Gotha Wa Mgothe, a staunch supporter and “Wantam” advocate who was injured while on his way to welcome him at the airport.
Ouma finally met the former DP at his Wamunyoro home, where Gachagua said he was touched after seeing a video in which activist Nuru Okanga appealed for help on Ouma’s behalf.
Gachagua said he only learned of Ouma’s plight after a video surfaced in which activist Nuru Okanga appealed for help on his behalf. “I had not known about him earlier, but when I saw the video, I became concerned and resolved to step in,” Gachagua said.
He announced that he will cover Ouma’s treatment costs at Mbagathi Hospital and provide him with a three-year subscription to the Social Health Authority (SHA).
