Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has announced that Kenya and Algeria are working to unlock the vast trade potential between the two nations, following fruitful bilateral talks with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
Kindiki said Kenya is keen on Algeria’s oil and gas products, pharmaceuticals, and fertiliser commodities, while Algeria presents a growing market for Kenyan exports including coffee, tea, powdered milk, meat, avocados, and citrus fruits.
‘Kenya is interested in oil and gas products, pharmaceuticals and fertiliser commodities available from Algeria,’he said.
He added that Kenya is ready to provide teachers to Algeria as the North African nation transitions to English as a medium of instruction in its education system.
According to the Deputy President, the activation of direct flights between Nairobi and Algiers will be a game-changer, boosting trade, tourism, and people-to-people ties.
Beyond commerce, Kindiki noted that both countries have agreed to strengthen cooperation in technology, peace and security at continental and global levels, and broader cultural exchanges.
“These talks mark the beginning of a stronger partnership between Kenya and Algeria, built on mutual respect and shared prosperity,” Kindiki said.
