Nairobi is set for a high-energy weekend as music and football meet for the final African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025 at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Tanzanian singer Zuchu confirmed on social media that she will be performing during the final on Saturday, August 30.
The Bongo Flava star will be joined on stage by Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo and Kenya’s Savara from Sauti Sol.
The three artists each a major name in East African music will lead the entertainment before and after the match, turning the final into more than just a football fixture. It’s shaping up to be a full cultural experience.
On the pitch, Morocco returns as title holders, seeking a third CHAN championship unprecedented for any side. They qualified for the final after a semi-final fixture against Senegal, which they secured 5-3 on penalties.
Their opponents, Madagascar will be making their first-ever CHAN final appearance. They edged out co-hosts Kenya in a penalty shootout in the quarterfinals, they went on to beat Sudan with a dramatic goal in extra time during the semis.
For local fans, there’s still disappointment in the air after Kenya’s exit last week. The Harambee Stars were knocked out by Madagascar on August 22 after a 1-1 draw ended in a penalty shootout loss.
While the home team won’t be in the final, Nairobi remains the heart of this weekend’s action.
