ODM Asks Members to Cross-Check Party Information Prior to By-Elections

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) asked members in various parts of the nation to cross-check their party information prior to the upcoming by-elections.

In a Tuesday statement, the party stated particular constituencies and wards where members should validate their registration to be allowed to participate in party activities before the elections.

Part of the constituencies involved are Baringo, Banissa, Kasipul, Magarini, Malava, Mbeere North, and Ugunja. Various wards like Kariobangi North, Kisa East, Narok Town, Nyamaiya, and many more are also part of the verification process.

ODM requested members in these areas to confirm their membership records via the USSD code 483036# or on the party’s official website.

“We are requesting our members to confirm their information early so that everything goes smoothly,” part of the statement stated.

But the party stated that new registrations are put on hold temporarily until the by-elections are concluded. This implies that people who are yet to register as members will have to wait for the exercise to be completed before they can do that.

ODM further indicated that members cannot transfer their registration centers during this time, in order to maintain fairness and organization.

The verification exercise seeks to ensure that only registered and qualified members are involved in the forthcoming nominations and elections.

“Take this seriously. You stand to lose the chance to take part if your information is not verified,” the party cautioned.

By-elections to be conducted on November 27 have been announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The by-elections have been scheduled to fill vacant seats in different areas that have gone without elected members for a while.

ODM indicated that it still maintains a clean and transparent process and called on all its members to conform to guidelines.
