Health care services have been halted in Siaya and Kisii counties after the nurses downed their tools citing lack of goodwill by their respective county governments, after they allegedly failed to implement their collective bargaining agreement.

Kenya National Union of Nurses Siaya branch Chairman, Denis Omolo and Kisii branch Secretary General Moses Riang’a, also cited delayed promotions, chronic understaffing and their employer’s failure to remit statutory deductions on time.

The union officials cited delayed staff promotions, chronic understaffing, and failure by employers to remit statutory deductions on time as key grievances.

They warned that services would remain suspended until the counties addressed their demands in full.
