The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has called out leaders recklessly claiming a plot to rig the 2027 General Elections in favor of a certain candidate.
In a statement, the electoral agency termed such utterances as “unacceptable and reckless” with the potential of eroding trust in the electoral process.
“The commission is concerned about statements on election malpractices in the country. Such utterances are unacceptable and reckless in a democratic society such as ours. EBC urges all Kenyans to ignore or disassociate with them," said the commission.
The statement comes after Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Abdi Jehow said they will rig the 2027 polls to ensure President William Ruto retains power.
“Sisi wabunge wa North Eastern maneno ya President, tunasema ‘tutam’, hata kama hatutakuwa na votes tutamwibia… hio si siri,” said Jehow.
