Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, today met with a delegation from JKUAT to assess the progress of the upcoming National Assistive Technology Centre of Excellence.

Led by Dr. Reuben Thuo, Principal of JKUAT’s College of Health Sciences, the team updated the PS on plans to establish the Centre at the university, with backing from the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Centre aims to expand access to assistive technologies for persons with disabilities, boost local innovation, and support Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

It will also help implement the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities by addressing gaps in device access, skilled personnel, and public awareness.

The facility is set to become a regional hub for inclusive health innovation.
