Journalist Maverick Aoko has called out self-styled activist Hanifa Adan for allegedly squandering over KSh 50 million that was raised to help protest victims.
In what has now been dubbed the #MchangaScandal, Hanifa has been pressured to account for how she spent the money. She later released a supposed audit report, which many dismissed, insisting it had discrepancies.
Taking to X, Aoko insisted that allegations that Hanifa misused the cash were true, adding the activist used the cash to enrich herself, including buying a new iPhone 15.
Aoko said she used to support Hanifa until she got compromised.
"Hanifa is currently vacationing in the coast. When she came to visit me at Muthaiga Police Station, I asked her, 'did you embezzle the funds, are you compromised?', Her response ikamuuza deadly.She told me anatoa audit report, which has turned out to be a huge bulls*it, she's since deleted it," said Aoko.Aoko regretted that squandering money meant to help victims attracts a curse.
"70 Kids are missing, Hanifa heist shouldn't be a priority... But Girl, Kukula pesa ya victims ni laana," added Aoko.
