Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has announced a $500 million partnership with China to establish local vaccine and pharmaceutical production hubs in Kenya.
Speaking after a meeting with Chinese Ambassador H.E. Guo Haiyan, Duale said the initiative aims to cut import dependence, create jobs, and position Kenya as a continental leader in health manufacturing by 2028.
The CS welcomed China’s offer of 500 scholarships and 20 annual health exchange programs and proposed forming a Kenya–China Health Cooperation Taskforce to fast-track the project.
He also praised China’s tech firms like Huawei for their role in strengthening Kenya’s rural health systems and workforce development.
