Fresh details indicate the person who sued former presidential candidate Mohamed Abduba Dida in the United States of America is his wife, identified as Shannon.
Dida is serving a seven-year sentence at the Big Muddy River Correctional Center in Illinois, where he’s been incarcerated since 2022.
The former teacher-turned-businessman was jailed in July 2021 for stalking and threatening Shannon, with whom he had a child.
After reports of his imprisonment went viral, Dida’s family narrated that he travelled to the US in 2019 to further his education. While in the US, he met Shannon and married her.
The lady would later get a restraining order against Dida after a domestic dispute. His family claimed he was jailed after he unknowingly violated the order.
“He went to a nearby mosque to pray, and unfortunately, it was in an area he was not supposed to be as she also frequented the mosque," the family said.They asked the Kenyan government to intervene for their kin to secure freedom.
"We are praying for him and trying to find a way of visiting him, finding another lawyer, and helping him. As a family, there are limits to what we can do, and that’s why we need government intervention,” they added.
