Once celebrated Kenyan singer Marya, best known for her hit song “Chokoza,” featuring Avril, has been hospitalised after suffering a stroke.

Marya, who has been maintaining a low profile after her heydays, has been receiving medical care after being paralysed on one side of her body.

According to fellow artistes Avril and Kendi, who visited her in hospital, Marya has been hospitalised for some time but is now in stable condition and is expected to be discharged soon.

Despite the positive news of her impending discharge, Marya faces a challenging road to recovery.

She will require extensive home-based care and physiotherapy to regain her motor skills and mobility, as the stroke has significantly affected her ability to perform everyday tasks such as walking and writing.

Avril, sharing a photo of Marya in her hospital bed, explained that the singer will need support to set up a suitable care space at home, including a hospital bed, wheelchair, ripple mattress, bed liners, and other essential items.

Contributions can be sent via mobile money to the number 0723207376, with all funds going directly towards Marya’s home care and rehabilitation needs.
