Rongo Magistrate Court has authorized the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to hold four individuals for an additional 21 days as investigations into the mysterious death of a GSU officer continue.

The four detainees include two directors from St. Joseph Mission of Messiah in Africa Limited Church: Michael Kus Onyango and Luka Ochieng, alongside Everline Gemamo and Lilian Atieno Olal.

They will remain in custody at Kamagambo Police Station pending further inquiries.

The probe centers on the unclear circumstances surrounding the death of Police Constable Adan Ayoo, a GSU officer who reportedly died on March 27, 2025, and was buried the following day within the church compound in Rongo, Migori County—allegedly without the consent or knowledge of his family or employer.

The ODPP has also petitioned the court to approve the exhumation of the officer’s remains to facilitate a post-mortem examination at Migori County Referral Hospital, aiming to establish the precise cause of death.

During the court session, prosecution indicated that the investigation is nearing completion and that formal charges will be filed once all inquiries conclude.

The next court mention is scheduled for May 27, 2025, when the exhumation request will be addressed, while further directions on the case will be given on June 12, 2025.
