Kenyan musician Willy Paul has issued a strong public warning after discovering that an individual has allegedly been impersonating him and falsely claiming to be his brother in order to manipulate and deceive people.
In a detailed statement shared on social media, the singer said the person has been using his name and identity to gain favors, mislead unsuspecting individuals, and spread false information that has damaged his reputation. Willy Paul noted that this is not the first time he has raised concerns about the matter, stating that despite previous warnings and public exposure, the alleged impersonator has continued with the deceptive behavior.
According to the artist, the individual has gone as far as involving multiple people in Nairobi under false pretenses. Willy Paul claimed that a woman in South B was misled after being told the impersonator was related to him, while another woman in Nairobi’s Ngara area ,reportedly a doctor was also deceived in a similar manner.
Willy Paul confirmed that the matter has now been taken up by the authorities and is currently under police investigation, with appropriate legal action underway. He emphasized that the situation is serious and urged anyone who may have been affected or who has additional information to reach out to him directly.
The singer’s statement has sparked widespread discussion online, with fans applauding him for speaking out and cautioning the public against falling victim to impersonation scams involving celebrities. Many also called for stricter action against individuals who misuse public figures’ identities for personal gain.
