President William Ruto on Monday, August 12, hosted a joint session of Cabinet and Principal Secretaries at State House, Nairobi.

During the session, the head of state challenged those selected to serve in the Cabinet to focus on implementation of programmes and policies that will transform the lives of Kenyans.

“I call on those selected to serve in the cabinet to focus on the implementation of programmes and policies that will transform the lives of Kenyans and move the country forward. Let us not waste this golden opportunity,” said Ruto.

With the Cabinet now including members from across the political divide, Ruto reiterated the importance of the broad-based government, saying it is aimed to unite the country and rally all Kenyans behind the country’s transformation journey.

“With the reconstituted Cabinet, we focus on resetting and accelerating building upon what we have established in the last two years, in line with The Plan of transforming the Nation,” said Gachagua after the session.

Broad-based administration to transform country

As earlier reported on TUKIO.co.ke, Ruto expressed confidence that his newly formed broad-based administration will unlock the full potential of the country.

Speaking during the swearing-in of 19 newly appointed Cabinet Secretaries, Ruto emphasised that Kenya has long been held back by political rivalry.

He noted that there comes a time when the interests of the country must take precedence over those of political parties.

To this end, the president explained that he reached out to leaders from the Opposition to join his administration, aiming to harness their knowledge and expertise to drive the country forward.

“The formation of this broad-based government, which unites former political rivals into one selfless and patriotic team, will unlock the potential of our country that has long been hindered by factional and sectarian competition. While competition is important, there comes a moment when the nation’s interest outweighs that of any political formation. This is why I have reached across the aisle to bring on board the knowledge, expertise, and experience of deserving Kenyans, even if they belong to different political backgrounds,” Ruto said.
