Vlogger Emma Amit Allegedly Dies from Toxic “Devil Crab”

Content creator Emma Amit has reportedly died after eating a poisonous crustacean popularly known as ”devil crab’. ‘Reports show that the content creator had gathered shelfish in a mangrove forest just next to their home in Palawan on February 14th. Their outing was allegedly filmed on social media for online content.

In the video Emma and her companions are filmed collecting sea creatures and preparing them in a coconut milk-based dish. After sampling a sea snail and other sea creatures, Amit reportedly developed criticalsymptoms that were linked to the toxins from the crab. She experienced convulsions and was rushed to a nearby clinic. According tohospital reports, Emma became unconscious her lips turned blue- signalling oxygen deprivation. The medical personnel tried to stabilize her to no avail, she passed away on February 6, only two days after consuming the seafood.

When officials were sent to Amit’s residence, they found bright colored crab shells of the devil crab were reportedly found in her household waste. According to marine experts, those crustaceans contain neurotoxins like the saxitoxin and tetrodotoxin which cause severe complications like respiratory failure and in severe cases they cause death.

Laddy Gemang, chief of the village of Luzviminda claimed he was baffled by Amit’s passing since she and her husband were both seasoned “fisherfolk.”

“This is really saddening because they should have known. They live by the sea, so I know they know about this devil crab that’s dangerous to eat. So why did she eat it? That is what I’m confused about.So to the residents of Puerto Princesa, I am urging you to be doubly vigilant,” Gemand warned. “Do not eat these dangerous devil crabs because they have claimed two lives here in our town. Don’t gamble with your lives.”

Authiorities have warned the public against consuming unfamiliar crustaceans and sea creatures and to seek expert guidance before preparing any seafood caught in the wild.
