The rulling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has announced the winners of the party ticket nominations held on Saturday, January 10.
The nominations were conducted to identify candidates who will vie on the UDA ticket in the upcoming February 26 by-elections in Muminji Ward and Evurore Ward in Mbeere North Constituency, Embu County, and West Kabras Ward in Malava Constituency, Kakamega County.
In Muminji, Peterson Njeru Njiru emerged the winner with 2793 votes, Duncan Muratia Nyaga Mukang’u Junior won the Evurore nominations with 3578 votes, while Elphas Kainanga Shalakha garnered 1501 votes to be declared the winner in West Kabras.
The three are now positioned as UDA party flag-bearers in the upcoming mini-poll, which is expected again to be a show of might between the President William Ruto led outfit and the United Opposition.
The said seats fell vacant following the resignation of their holders to seek parliamentary seats in Mbeere North and Malava constituencies, in which UDA candidates Leonard Muriuki Wamuthende and David Ndakwa emerged victorious.
