Two men suspected of being members of a criminal gang have been arrested and five pangas recovered following a police operation along Nthiwa Road in Yamase, Migori County.

The arrests followed intelligence received by detectives indicating that a group of individuals suspected to be armed with crude weapons was travelling in two vehicles along the route.

Detectives from the Operation Action Team (OAT) responded to the information and intercepted a silver Toyota Voxy, registration number KDB 463W, at Yamase.

The two occupants, identified as Hillary Odhiambo and James Oloo Otieno, were arrested during the operation.

A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of five pangas and other crude weapons, which detectives believe may have been intended for use in criminal activities.

The suspects and the recovered items were taken into custody for further processing as investigations continue. They are expected to be arraigned in court.

Meanwhile, detectives have launched efforts to identify and apprehend other individuals believed to have been part of the group.

Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the suspected criminal activity.
