President William Ruto has assured Kenyans that the 2027 General Election will be conducted peacefully and transparently, warning that his administration will take firm action against criminal gangs used to disrupt political activities.
Speaking during an Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) event in Busia County, the Head of State said the government will not tolerate political violence or hooliganism as the country heads into the election period.
“Tutakuwa na uchaguzi wa amani mwaka ujao kwa sababu elections come and go. Tumekubaliana hawa goons tuwashughulikie wote. Hakuna mtu ataruhusiwa kuendesha uhalifu na kuharibu amani katika taifa letu la Kenya,” Ruto said.
The President said the government is committed to ensuring that all political leaders can campaign freely without intimidation or violence, adding that security agencies have been instructed to deal firmly with individuals involved in criminal activities.
He urged politicians to focus on presenting their development agendas to Kenyans instead of engaging in acts that threaten public order and national unity.
“Wale wenye wako na ajenda, waeleze ajenda zao. Wale wako na mpango, waeleze mipango yao,” he added.
