In Kisii County, the government has committed KSh 2.5 billion to construct 22 modern markets aimed at improving working conditions for traders. Another KSh 2 billion has been set aside to connect 20,000 households to electricity this financial year under the last mile programme. Ruto also announced the construction of a 14,000-seater Kisii Stadium at a cost of KSh 1 billion, expected to be completed within nine months.

The President further supported local sports by donating a KSh 27 million bus to Shabana FC and allocating KSh 20 million for a temporary playing field.

In aviation, the upgrade of Suneka Airport is set to begin, with plans for a new runway and terminal to be completed within eight months. On roads, at least seven new projects covering 200 kilometres will be undertaken over the next 18 months, alongside the launch of the Bobaracho–Manyasi–Ting’a Road and an access road to Gianchore Tea Factory, both expected to be ready in six months.

Ruto also highlighted completed projects in the region, including the Kegogi–Nyansakia–Nyakoora–Nyakongo Road and the Marani–Ititi–Sombogo–Nyakoe–Kegogi Road. He launched the construction of Nyakoe Modern Market and Kegogi Modern Market, the latter set to accommodate more than 300 traders, and allocated KSh50 million for the upgrade of Kegogi Hospital.

In Nyamira County, the President announced a KSh 15 billion plan targeting affordable housing, markets, and student accommodation. This includes KSh 9 billion for housing units, KSh 2 billion for markets, and KSh 1.3 billion for hostels.

He also committed KSh 1 billion towards upgrading Nyamira County Referral Hospital to Level 5 status, alongside noting that the Social Health Authority (SHA) has already settled KSh 1.56 billion in medical bills for residents, with over 335,000 people registered.

Further investments include KSh 900 million for a modern stadium, construction of Nyamira University College with KSh 800 million allocated in the first phase, and ongoing road works such as the Eronge–Kebuse–Omonyenya Road, now 58 percent complete. Additional roads, including Chabera–Nyamusi–Nyamaiya and Tombe–Isinta–Gitaru, have their tenders already advertised.

The President also launched the construction of a 580-capacity KMTC Nyamira students’ hostel worth KSh 220 million, alongside plans for 20 classrooms and five laboratories. In water access, a KSh 450 million last mile project will serve 15,000 residents, while the KSh 70 million Ikonge Modern Market and a KSh 350 million mega market in Nyamira Town are set to boost local trade.

Ruto confirmed that the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) extension will include a KSh 300 million station at Ikonge, strengthening transport links in the region. He also inspected ongoing projects such as the Nyamira Comprehensive School tuition block, underscoring his administration’s focus on delivering tangible development.
