President William Ruto has launched the construction of the 59-kilometre Enengetia-Olposimoru road in Narok County, in a move aimed at improving connectivity and opening up the region’s agricultural and commercial potential.
The road will connect Eneng’etia, Olokurto, Enkuseru, Olposimoru and Kiptenden, providing residents and businesses with improved access to markets and other economic centres.
President Ruto said the project will make it easier for farmers to transport vegetables, maize, wheat, dairy products and other agricultural produce to markets, while also boosting trade and business along the corridor.
The launch is part of the government’s wider infrastructure programme in Narok County, with several other road projects either under construction or nearing completion.
The President said the government is also investing Sh2.8 billion to expand electricity access in Narok, while construction of the 40-kilometre Suswa-Inkorionito-Naiekia-Enkare road in Narok East is ongoing.
Other projects include the Ololung’a-Ewaso Ng’iro road, while the Ololung’a-Sogoo-Saptet-Mulot road is reported to be nearly 60 per cent complete.
Ruto also said tarmacking of the Ngoswani-Naikarra-Morijo road was underway, with 30 kilometres already completed.
The President said the projects are part of efforts to unlock Narok’s economic potential by improving infrastructure, supporting agriculture and expanding access to markets and essential services.
“We are transforming Narok County through deliberate infrastructure projects to unlock its vast economic potential,” Ruto said.
He further announced that the Narok Airport is expected to be ready in the coming months, adding to the infrastructure investments being undertaken in the county.
